GENERAL PRESIDENT S.C. DIXON
10th Convention President

Rev. Shelton Charles Dixon was born on May 3, 1965, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Shelton Dixon, Sr.  He is one of eight children, the husband to Jacqueline J. Dixon and father to Diamond NiJae Dixon.  He answered the call to preach the uncompromising Word of the risen Savior and preached his first sermon on June 30, 1987.
 
Rev. Dixon was educated in the Calcasieu Parish School System.  He later attended Southern University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  Rev. Dixon earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Calvary Theological Seminary in Lake Charles, Louisiana in Religious Education with a Minor in Ministry and he also received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Christian Bible College of Louisiana.  

In 1992 Rev. Dixon was selected as one of the “Fifty Leaders of Tomorrow” by Ebony Magazine. In 1997 Rev. Dixon was also honored by Lambda Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. as “Citizen of the Year”.  In 1998 Rev. Dixon was chosen as “Minister of the Year” by the Early Risers Kiwanis Club. April 2010 he was inducted into “The Fraternity of ‘The Sword’” at the Biblical Exposition Conference in Chicago, Illinois.
 
 

On October 31, 2018, Rev. Dixon was installed as the 10th President of the Louisiana Home and Foreign Missions Baptist Convention.  The Convention has a membership of over 300 churches throughout the State of Louisiana.  It is Rev. Dixon’s vision to lead the Convention to live up to its name by becoming “Brighter Light and Better Salt” in serving Associations, Congregations, Communities, and Countries through the transforming Love of Jesus Christ.
 
Rev. Dixon is the Organizer and Pastor of the Greater Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Baton Rouge, LA., organized in 1996.  In addition to overseeing the Greater Mount Olive family, Rev. Dixon is the Second Vice President of Third District Bogue Chitto Missionary Baptist General Association and the General Secretary of the National Baptist Convention of America International Inc.   Rev. Dixon is the Immediate Past President of the Louisiana Interchurch Conference.  He seeks to empower and enhance the quality of life for at-risk individuals and families by serving the community and state as a Board member of the Port of Baton Rouge and Vice President of the Louisiana Embalmers and Funeral Director.  Rev. Dixon is a former BREC Commissioner where he served as Vice Chairman, former Board Member of the YMCA, Council on Aging, Harmony Center, Baton Rouge Marine Institute, and a former Baton Rouge Airport Commissioner. In his free time, Rev. Dixon enjoys playing golf, fishing, and traveling.
